About the lodge

Eight chalets, terraced into the hill

14692 sits exactly where its name suggests — terraced down a north-facing hillside on the edge of the reserve. Eight private chalets each have their own deck, an outdoor shower, and an uninterrupted view of the plains stretching to the Zuurberg mountains.

The lodge is small by design. The pool deck overlooks the bush, the dining is communal but unforced, and the rangers know your name by the second drive. Two daily Big 5 game drives are included.

When to go

Best time to visit

Hillside is at its best on cool, clear winter mornings (May–September) when the light is sharp and the bush is thinned out. Summer brings heat haze on the plains and warmer evenings on the deck.

“Smaller and quieter than the other lodges. We saw the Big 5 in two drives and ate breakfast watching impala. Could not ask for more.”
