About the lodge

Edwardian luxury in a private valley

Safari Lodge is the most romantic lodge in Amakhala. Ten suites are tucked into a private valley away from the main reserve roads — colonial verandas, fireplaces in every suite, claw-foot baths, and a lounge of leather chesterfields and bookcases that smells of furniture polish and woodsmoke.

Adults are preferred (children 12+ welcome). Two daily Big 5 game drives are included, and the lodge’s bush spa offers massages, facials, and an open-air sundowner soak.

Best time to visit

Safari Lodge is at its most atmospheric in winter (May–September) — log fires every night, crisp morning drives, and the lodge to yourself on quieter weeks. Summer brings warm afternoons on the deck and a longer golden hour for photography.
