Stone-and-thatch suites on the hilltop
Induli — isiXhosa for “hilltop” — is a hidden gem on the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. Three stone-and-thatch suites crafted to blend seamlessly with the natural landscape, with earthy tones and ample natural light that draw the outdoors in. Each suite is nestled among Milkwood trees and Aloes, with king or twin beds, air conditioning, a coffee machine, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with twin basins, deep tub, and walk-in shower.
Induli operates off-grid using eco-friendly practices — luxury delivered without compromising the surrounding environment. Each day includes two guided game drives in an open 4x4: a dawn drive as the bush comes alive, and a late-afternoon sundowner drive that often catches nocturnal animals on the move.

Questions about Induli Lodge
What's included in the rate?
Luxury accommodation in a stone-and-thatch suite, three meals daily, morning and evening Big 5 game drives in an open 4x4 with a qualified ranger, selected house drinks, and Wi-Fi throughout the property. Premium drinks, spa treatments, and private bush dinners are billed separately.
Is Induli Lodge family-friendly?
Yes — children aged 6 and older are welcome at Induli. Children 6 to 11 are charged at 50% of the adult rate; teens 12 to 18 are charged at the full adult rate. Each suite sleeps a maximum of two, so families travelling with children will need to book multiple suites.
How do I get to Induli Lodge?
Induli is approximately 80 km (around one hour drive) from Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), via the N2 towards Grahamstown. Self-drive is straightforward — the lodge will share door-to-door directions on confirmation. Airport transfers can be arranged through African Safari Group on request.
What makes Induli different from the other Amakhala lodges?
"Induli" is isiXhosa for "hilltop" — the lodge sits in a quiet hilltop position on Amakhala. Just three stone-and-thatch suites keep it intimate, and the lodge runs off-grid using eco-friendly practices. Décor leans natural and earthy, with twin basins, deep tubs, walk-in showers, and ample natural light. Smaller and more design-led than the bigger family lodges, while still welcoming children 6+.
What activities are included?
Two guided game drives daily are included — a dawn drive in an open 4x4 as the bush comes to life with birdsong and morning predator activity, and a late-afternoon drive that ends with a sundowner stop and often catches nocturnal animals on the move. Photographic safaris and walking trails are also on offer. Yoga, day-safari excursions, and visits to nearby attractions (Makana Botanical Gardens, Grahamstown Cathedral) can be arranged.
